Enter your height and weight. BMI formula: weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². The calculator handles the math and shows your BMI with category.

What is a healthy BMI range?

Normal weight BMI is 18.5 to 24.9. Underweight is below 18.5, overweight is 25-29.9, obese is 30+. These are WHO standard categories.

Can I calculate BMI in feet and pounds?

Yes. Switch to Imperial mode to enter height in feet/inches and weight in pounds. The calculator converts automatically for accurate results.

Is BMI accurate for athletes?

No. BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat. Athletes often have high BMI due to muscle mass despite being very fit. Use body fat percentage for athletes.

How do I calculate BMI for children?

Child BMI uses the same formula but is interpreted differently using age and gender percentile charts. This calculator is designed for adults 18+.

What BMI is considered obese?

A BMI of 30 or higher is classified as obese. BMI 35-39.9 is severely obese. BMI 40+ is morbidly obese. Consult a doctor for health assessment.

Is my BMI data stored anywhere?

No. All calculations happen locally in your browser. Your height, weight, and BMI result are never sent to any server. Completely private.

What are the limitations of BMI?

BMI does not account for muscle mass, age, gender, bone density, or fat distribution. It is a screening tool, not a diagnostic. Consult a healthcare provider.
