According to a new report from WGB, Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment are set to become the first Xbox games to be ported to the PS5 and Switch platforms.
The highly acclaimed titles, Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, are poised to break new ground as the first Xbox games making their debut on PlayStation and Switch platforms this year. This revelation stems from a recent report by Tom Warren from the Verge, who delved into Microsoft’s strategy of expanding their game offerings to rival consoles amidst a slowdown in Game Pass expansion.
“According to sources, the initial two titles slated for release on competing consoles are Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment,” stated Tom.
While speculation surrounding Hi-Fi Rush has been ongoing, this marks the first mention of Pentiment in this context. Microsoft’s decision to introduce these two smaller yet critically acclaimed titles to other platforms seems strategic, providing an opportunity to test the waters of multi-platform releases. Hi-Fi Rush, in particular, appears well-suited for Sony and Nintendo systems, potentially broadening its audience reach significantly.
Additionally, the report confirms that Sea of Thieves will make its way to other platforms later in the year, presenting another intriguing move by Microsoft. Despite enjoying substantial success on Xbox since its launch in 2018, the game’s popularity has waned over time. Expanding its availability to different platforms could inject new life into the title and extend its longevity.
While other Xbox games are under consideration for multi-platform release, Warren hints at potential releases like Starfield and Indiana Jones, alongside staples like Halo and Gears of War.
