How do I create a barcode for my book?

Where do I get an ISBN number?
ISBN numbers are assigned by your country's ISBN agency (e.g., Bowker in the US, Nielsen in the UK). Self-published authors can purchase single ISBNs or blocks. Many self-publishing platforms (KDP, IngramSpark) can also provide ISBNs.
What is the difference between ISBN-10 and ISBN-13?
ISBN-13 (13 digits, starting with 978/979) is the current standard since 2007. ISBN-10 (10 digits) is the older format. You can convert ISBN-10 to ISBN-13 by adding prefix 978 and recalculating the check digit. Our tool uses ISBN-13.
Do I need an ISBN for self-published books?
It's recommended but not always required. Amazon KDP provides free ASINs, but an ISBN gives your book a universal identifier for libraries, bookstores, and distribution. For print books sold through bookstores, an ISBN is essential.
