How do I create a UPC barcode for Amazon?
To sell on Amazon, you need a GS1-registered UPC code. Register with GS1 US to get a company prefix, assign product numbers, then use our tool to generate the visual barcode. Amazon requires genuine GS1 codes.
How many digits does a UPC code have?
A standard UPC-A barcode has 12 digits: a number system digit, a 5-digit manufacturer code, a 5-digit product code, and a check digit. The check digit is calculated automatically from the first 11 digits.
Can I use UPC codes outside the USA?
Yes, most modern barcode scanners worldwide can read UPC codes. However, for international sales, EAN-13 is the global standard. A UPC-A can be converted to EAN-13 by adding a leading zero.
